“For who sings praise, not only praise, but also praises with joy,” this sentence was written by St. Augustine in his comments on Psalm 73 (72), with time it has been simplified to the phrase “He who sings prays twice”. In this spirit we have chosen the hymn that identifies the Congress of Education Delegate of Jesuit Education. For this occasion the song “I will sing forever,” original work of Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ (Philippines), was translated it to spanish and covered by the Chilean Jesuit Fr. Cristóbal Fones, SJ.
The original version of the lyrics and music of “I will sing forever” was created by Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ and later interpreted by the band Bukas Palad, originally from the Philippines.
This musical group is a community of young people who compose, record and play original religious music in the Philippines. Since 1986, Bukas Palad has recorded over 20 studio albums under the Ministry of Jesuit Music Ateneo of Manila University and has performed in more than one hundred concerts in the Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong and the United States.
“I will sing forever” was inspired by Psalm 89 (88) and is part of the album “The best of Bukas Palad Volume 2,” released in 1997.
